Virginia "Beth" Harpell

Sales Associate

About Me

Beth brings an appreciation for historic and luxury homes to her sales associate position, and was a successful antique dealer before entering the real estate field full-time in 2000.  She expanded her education to learn as much as possible about older homes and upper-end properties, attaining a National Trust for Historic Preservation Certification in Real Estate and becoming certified through Drew University’s Historic Preservation program.  Beth is currently completing coursework to receive her Certified Luxury Home Market Specialist designation, and she is an Accredited Buyers’ Representative.

“I definitely most enjoy marketing vintage and luxury homes--from Arts & Crafts to Beaux Arts, plus manors and estates—these are my passion.  In today’s market, buyers need a very compelling reason to purchase, and value is key among clients who are highly-educated.  I feel that nothing embodies lasting value more than a classic antique or luxury property’s timeless architectural style and quality,” Beth says.  She is a member of numerous state and local historic societies, the National Trust for Historic Preservation, the Society of Architectural Historians and Preservation New Jersey.

Growing up with two parents who were real estate brokers gave Beth a close understanding of the industry from an early age.  She received her license in her early 20s and has a stellar sales record.  A multi-million dollar producer, she has been recognized by the New Jersey Association of Realtors with their coveted Circle of Excellence award.  She has also received numerous sales and listing awards throughout her career.

Beth is very pro-active in her own marketing, and has become well-known for exposing her listings to a select group of buyers who appreciate the intrinsic worth of the area’s most distinctive homes.  Utilizing innovative marketing plans, Beth has a knack for finding the right home for buyers who appreciate the character and craftsmanship of a unique property, whether they seek an antique, luxury or country home.

A longtime resident of Fredon in Sussex County, Beth and her husband, Kirk, live in their third restoration project, a circa 1753 stone Colonial bank house with rare French Huguenot-influenced style.  Their home received its letter of eligibility from the State Historic Preservation Office in 2002.  The couple has five children and four Jack Russell terriers.

Beth attended Rutgers University School of Engineering, and then when she was a stay-at-home mother, she developed an interest in painting and won scholarships from the National Pastel Society and the Art Students League.  Beth studied under portrait masters Daniel E. Greene, N.A. and Ron Sherr, whose portrait of President George H.W. Bush is displayed at the Smithsonian Institute’s National Portrait Gallery in Washington, D.C.  She also developed an artist’s eye for home staging, which is an asset to her buyers as they prepare to sell their home.

Clients and co-workers describe Beth as a friendly, hard-working sales associate.  She brings an unwavering enthusiasm and a natural curiosity about homes to her position, and passes that enthusiasm along to her clients.  She looks forward to sharing her valuable expertise and education with home buyers and sellers as they enter today’s real estate market.
